Spokane, Wash. – HOTSTART is pleased to announce the direct contracting of Mr. Xavier Piani as Market Manager in support of the French marketplace. Piani, formerly of Synholon, has been a Master Distributor for HOTSTART since 1998 and brings with him 15 years of expertise and knowledge of the French engine heating market.

Few places in the world are more extreme in their weather than Inner Mongolia where the winters are very long, cold and dry with frequent blizzards. Even in these conditions, there is still work to be done. In November 2013, HOTSTART partnered with Hitachi Japan to provide an oil heater solution for their EX-8000 Gigantic Excavator in use at the Huaneng Yimin Coal and Electricity Company mining operation based in Hulunbuir, Inner Mongolia.

HOTSTART's HOTflow® Technician Certification Training is a program developed to train dealer and distributor technicians on the proper installation procedure for HOTflow® heaters. This free one hour webinar is led by Robert Fridye, Aftermarket Sales - Energy Efficient Solutions. During the training, Robert will guide you through: Overview of HOTflow® Heating Systems Safety and Prep for an Install Mounting of the System Plumbing the System Coolant Requirements Start-up and Commissioning of the HOTflow® heater Following the presentation, participants will take a 25 question test to complete the course and earn their 2 year "HOTSTART Certified Technician" certificate.

HOTflow™ CTM Heaters Receive UL/C-US Approval

Spokane, Wash. – HOTSTART recently obtained UL/C-US approval on its HOTflow™ line of CTM forced circulation engine heaters. Effective immediately, CTM models specified with a 3m cord and NEMA plug will carry the UL mark.
Discontinuation Notice for CSS Heating System

HOTSTART will no longer offer replacement parts or product support for the CSS line of circulating heating systems. The CSS product line was discontinued and replaced with the CSM model in 2009. Effective immediately, CSS replacement parts will no longer be available. Discontinued CSS Engine Heater.
HOTSTART From the Field: Louisiana Offshore Oil Port

LOOP, LLC recently installed a pair of HOTSTART coolant heating systems and oil heating systems on two of its four CAT D3616 engines which power large capacity crude oil pumps at the Louisiana Offshore Oil Port in the Gulf of Mexico. LOOP is the only port in the U.S. capable of offloading deep draft tankers known as Ultra Large Crude Carriers (ULCC) and Very Large Crude Carriers (VLCC).
HOTSTART From the Field: Iwate Kaihatsu Railways

Iwate Kaihatsu Railways located in Ofunato, Japan operates locomotives that haul cement from the local mine out of the valley to the processing plant in town. Each locomotive hauls 18 cement cars capable of carrying 35 tons each. On a normal day, they make 13 trips from the mine to the plant and back.
HOTSTART Selected as Partner to Provide Auxiliary Power Units in Northeast Idle Reduction Program

Hotstart was recently selected by the Northeast States for Coordinate Air Use Management (NESCAUM) to provide Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) for 27 of 29 locomotives and 6 railroads that are part of the New England Locomotive Idle Reduction Project. NESCAUM, through a grant provided by the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), will use Hotstart’s APU technology to reduce locomotive idling and will help save railroads money and fuel and reduce emissions. NESCAUM matched the $850,000 EPA grant by 23 percent.
HOTSTART Auxiliary Power Units Good for Environment and Customers

Hotstart was selected by Montana Rail Link (MRL) to provide a new series of Auxiliary Power Units (APUs) to 34 locomotives that a recent report shows saved the railroad money and fuel and drastically reduced emissions. With this technology, MRL will eliminate 122,442 tons of emissions and save 10,657,523 gallons of fuel over the next 11 years. Hotstart’s participation in the project was the result of MRL being awarded a $1.13 million grant from the EPA for the use of APUs to reduce idling.
